Ritual Blood is DREADVEIL's living crimson resource, and it's at the heart of how you build your Black Magic collection. Our Black Magic devlog introduced it; this post explains what it's used for, and the two ways to get it: earning it by playing or buying it in the store. The economy is still being balanced, so amounts and details may change before launch.
What Ritual Blood is used for
Ritual Blood is spent at the Blood Loom, deep in a cursed forest. Make an offering and the Loom answers with new Voodoo Dolls for your collection.
- Grow your collection. Every offering adds Voodoo Dolls to your collection. Bigger offerings call more dolls at once, and some dolls are rarer than others.
- Restock the dolls you rely on. Each time you draw a doll at a Black Magic shrine during a match, it uses up one copy. Offering at the Loom keeps your favourites stocked.
- Build better Voodoo Doll Classes. The more dolls you own, the more options you have when choosing the five you bring into each match.
Ritual Blood isn't used to buy points, weapons or Blood Rites during a match. Inside a match you still survive on points earned from the horde; Ritual Blood is what you carry between matches.
Obtain it in game
Every player earns Ritual Blood just by playing. You'll see it on screen as you earn it, and it's added to your saved balance at the end of the match:
- Spending points: buying doors, weapons and upgrades can pay out Ritual Blood, and upgrades are the most likely to.
- Reaching round milestones: survive long enough and every milestone round pays.
- Completing challenges and objectives, including steps of a map's Easter egg.
- Levelling up your account.
The longer you survive and the more you push into a map, the more you earn. No Voodoo Doll is locked behind a purchase: everything at the Blood Loom can be earned through play.
Purchase it in the store
If you'd rather build your collection faster, you'll also be able to buy Ritual Blood with real money from the DREADVEIL store in game, using your platform's normal checkout on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation or Xbox.
- Purchased and earned Ritual Blood are the same. They go into one balance and are spent the same way at the Blood Loom.
- It saves time, not skill. Buying Ritual Blood gets you dolls sooner; it doesn't give you anything a player who earns it can't get.
- You'll always see what you're paying. Ritual Blood is sold in clearly priced packs, and the store will show the exact amount before you buy.
- It belongs to your account. When cross-progression arrives, your balance follows you across PC, PlayStation and Xbox, whether you earned it or bought it.
