Devlog: Meet the Operators

· Morvek Studio

Every match in DREADVEIL is fought by an operator: a survivor with their own past, their own reasons for stepping into the dark, and their own voice in the middle of the horde. This devlog covers who you'll play as on launch day and how new operators will join the roster after that. Operators are in development, and the details below may change before launch.

Eight operators, free for everyone on launch day

When DREADVEIL launches, eight operators will be available to every player. You won't need to buy, rank up or complete a challenge to play as any of them. Pick the one you like from the first match.

  • A different background for each one. Every operator comes from a different life before the veil tore open: different homelands, different skills, different scars.
  • A story of their own. Each operator has their own reasons for fighting, and their story unfolds across DREADVEIL's maps.
  • Their own voice in the fight. Operators react to the horde, to the world and to each other in their own words.

We'll introduce each operator and share their background in the lead-up to launch.

More operators after launch

The roster will keep growing after launch. Additional operators, each with their own background and story, will be available in two ways:

  • The Season Pass: each season brings new content, and some new operators will be unlocked through that season's Season Pass.
  • The Item Shop: some operators will be available to buy individually from the in-game Item Shop, so you can pick up just the operators you want.

Operators you unlock, through the Season Pass or the Item Shop, belong to your account. When cross-progression arrives, they'll follow you across PC, PlayStation and Xbox.

Fair for everyone

The eight launch operators will always be free for every player. Additional operators add new characters, stories and looks to the roster; they're never required to play any map, mode or Easter egg.
